Pela quinta vez consecutiva, Modern Family arrecadou o Emmy de Melhor Comédia (igualando Frasier no número de vitórias) enquanto Breaking Bad ganhou pela segunda vez o galardão de Melhor Drama. Já na categoria Telefilmes, destaca-se a supremacia de Sherlock: His Last Vow, com três conquistas.
De destacar a vitória de Julia Louis-Dreyfus na categoria de Melhor Atriz Principal de Comédia, o quinto Emmy da sua carreira, o quarto triunfo de Jim Parsons e de Bryan Cranston pelos seus papéis em The Big Bang Theory e Breaking Bad, respetivamente, o décimo reconhecimento de The Amazing Race na sua categoria, bem como a dupla vitória de Allison Janney, por Mom e pela sua participação especial em Masters of Sex.
