No dia 1 de feveiro decorreu em simultâneo em Los Angeles e Nova Iorque a cerimónia de entrega dos prémios da associação de escritores americanos, os Writers Guild Awards, onde foi celebrado o que melhor se fez a nível de escrita para cinema, televisão, rádio, entre muitos outros. A cerimónia foi apresentada por JW Marriott, em Los Angeles, e por Edison Ballroom, em Nova Iorque.
Na categoria de televisão, os grandes vencedores foram Breaking Bad, como melhor drama, e melhor episódio de drama. Por sua vez, a série Veep venceu na categoria de melhor comédia, e ainda a estreante House of Cards, que obteve o prémio de melhor nova série.
